The Ministry of Public Health Presents “Excellent Management System and Hygiene in Passenger Lounge Award” to THAI
 
Today (18 March 2005) at 16.30 hours, at THAI’s Royal Orchid Lounge, Bangkok International Airport, Suchai Charoenratanakul, M.D., Minister of Public Health, presided over a ceremony presenting the “Excellent Management System and Hygiene in Passenger Lounge Award” to Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, for implementation of the airline’s “High Hygiene in Royal Orchid Lounge” project.  Also in attendance during the award presentation was Mr. Anuthin Charnveerakul, Deputy Public Health Minister, THAI’s Management, and officials from the Ministry of Public Health.
Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said that it is an honor for the airline to receive another award from the Ministry of Public Health which THAI’s Management and employees are proud to accept.  THAI’s “High Hygiene in Royal Orchid Lounge” project was initiated and implemented in an effort to boost the confidence of passengers using services in the passenger lounges.  The project successfully boosted passenger confidence in the areas of hygiene, employee service provision, uses of equipment in service provision, and various environments in the Royal Orchid Lounge, with hygiene measures implemented as follows:
 
Air Quality
  • Installation of air filter equipment using photochemistry and photoplasma systems that are capable of successfully disinfecting diseases and getting rid of dust particles that are as small as 0.001 microns.  The equipment is also able to alter dangerous gas or odors into liquid and natural gas, using air filter equipment that is able to be mobilized in different areas of service provision for passengers.
  • Use of disinfectant to clean surface areas and dust particles in 24 common passenger touch points, utilizing the same disinfectant solution as used on board aircraft.  Passenger resting areas, food preparation areas, and restrooms are also disinfected.
Passenger Services
  • Implement personal serving service provision in order to decrease chances that passengers touch food and various objects.  As well, there has been a change in food preparation methods and containers or dishes based on variety of meals.  In addition, passenger blankets have been placed in sealed plastic bags and labeled as hygienically clean
  • Utilization of modern, high quality equipment, such as handy vacuums and dust rollers to clean seats and cushions.  Use of a surface cleansing solution with disinfecting ingredients and fragrance.  Antiseptic hand gel used by employees providing passenger service.
Auditing
  • Implementation of Special Process Audits (SPA) in the passenger lounges for complete the process and guarantee high quality.
In addition to the award that THAI’s Royal Orchid Lounge has received from the Ministry of Public Health, the airline’s Royal Orchid Lounges have been selected as the best First Class Passenger Lounge 2005, ranked first place by Skytrax passenger survey website based in the United Kingdom.
The company’s policy is continually boost passenger confidence in THAI’s hygiene and safety levels, which began with “The Most Hygienic In Cabin Environment” project that stressed the importance of ensuring passenger hygiene on board THAI flights and was a project that received a plaque of recognition from the World Health Organization. 
THAI is proud to have received recognition from the Ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organization, which represents public and passenger confidence in THAI, an airline that goes out of its way to care for public safety, hygiene, and health.
 
태국의 타이 항공사에서는 비행기로 전염되는 각종 전염성 질병으을 예방하고 보건 위생 대책의 일환으로서 전세계적으로 유일한ㅁ 바이오존 광플라즈마 정화 장치를 태국 공항의 항공기내 출입 통로, 라운지, 식당 등에 설치하여 공기를 살균하는 장치를 도입한 후 뉴스로 보도하였습니다.
